My Favorite 7 Free Crochet Patterns This Fall

I was super excited for Fall to come around this year. That's because I found quite a few new resources for free patterns. I also revisited some classics that deserve another make!

I warmed up with crochet pumpkins, but I quickly realized that there is a whole plethora of fall-related makes that I probably won’t get around to this year.

However, I can still share the patterns with you all in hopes that maybe someone, somewhere will make these items instead! There’s just too much yarny goodness not to share!

1) Crochet Pumpkins

Pumpkins? Enough said. It's not fall without some pumpkins on your doorstep or around your home. Here are not 1, but 3 free squash patterns to help you get your hooking hands warmed up:

Yarnspirations is a solid resource for free patterns. It's not as simple as other pumpkin patterns out there, but with the inc/dec stitches the pumpkin naturally gets its lumpiness instead of you having to make the lumps yourself with a tapestry needle.

Hobbii is relatively new on the crafty world's radar, but it is certainly making a good impression. Their website also provides a lot of free patterns, including their version of pumpkins. You can also make them solid or striped, which adds to the variety.

Speaking of variety, Hobbii also provides a free Oblong Squash pattern to add to the fall party. How interesting is a table full of multi-colored squashes? The round and oblong patterns also can be made into different sizes if you up or down your hook size/yarn thickness.

2) Mushroom basket

When I saw these mushroom baskets in my inbox, I knew I HAD to make them!! Baskets... shaped like mushrooms? Yes! Cute AND functional? Double yes!!

This one is another gem from Yarnspirations, and I realized that you can make different sized baskets depending on your yarn and hook size!! How fun would that be to have a bunch of different sized mushrooms sprouting in your living room?

3) Crochet Eriu Cardigan

We all need a simple go-to cardigan for when the days start to get chilly. I love this cardi because it's so simple. I can see myself wearing it over and over again, making it a staple closet item. The lavender color is so lovely as well and can be swapped for warmer fall colors if you wish.

Click on the image above to jump over to Crochet with Carrie's written instructions. She also provides a YouTube tutorial to make this cardigan as well.

4) Harvest Turtleneck Poncho

Crochet with Carrie is quickly becoming my favorite YouTube crocheter. I just love her designs! And they all come with video tutorials.

The cables for the Harvest Turtleneck Poncho are amazing, and the video tutorial takes you through each step so you aren't confused. Or click the image above if you'd rather have written instructions.

5) Kiss Kiss Velvet Crochet Pillow

Velvet yarn is back once again, and Bernat has got you covered for throw pillows. Doesn't this pillow just look soooooo squishable?? There's nothing like introducing velvet to your home to welcome the chilly weather.

6) Autumn Log Cabin Throw

Another Yarnspirations favorite and a great fall addition to your home. This mitered-esque looking throw is a series of well-placed color changes and the effects are amazing! This throw definitely screams fall to me with the warm earthy tones and pops of orange in the middle of the squares.

7) Chukka Crochet Slipper Boots

Don't forget to keep your feet warm. :) Make and Do Crew is my source for slippers. I just love that she re-imagines the flip flop so creatively! These Chukka Boots are probably my favorite, though. They remind of the ankle boots I love to wear in fall.

These boots require some extra materials (listed on her page), such as foam flip flops, glue, and different sized hooks. But she takes you through every step so you're not lost!

Well, that wraps up my favorite patterns for this fall! Will you be making any of these this season?

Happy making, friends! :)
